Developing a Sustainable Model for a Community Youth Development Social Enterprise: One Agency’s Plan for Success

This study provides an overview of the development of a social enterprise, Transformation Project Group (TPG), from the perspective of the staff. The program was created as a youth development tool and evolved as the financial arm for Youth Power Brokers, which is a youth program managed by the Community Engagement Center of the Greater South City. TPG, facilitated by six full-time youth development professionals, engages youth interns providing opportunities for knowledge and skill building in multimedia training, career exploration, employment, team building, social skills, and personal growth. The study focuses on the history and development of the program and an exploration of the necessary components to build and sustain a successful social enterprise.
